Whether it's a visit to a historical site, a science museum, or a nature reserve, each experience is tailored to spark curiosity and creativity in our pupils.
Join us in our journey to expand young minds and create unforgettable memories. Our commitment to enriching education ensures that every child at Victoria Road Primary School can discover new passions and reach their full potential.
EYFS, Year 1 & 2 Enrichment and Trips
Our youngest pupils embark on an exciting journey filled with wonder and discovery. Our enrichment activities and trips are designed to spark curiosity and provide hands-on learning experiences.
Our children watch nature unfold as caterpillars transform into butterflies, eggs hatch into chicks, and tadpoles grow into frogs. They become little gardeners by planting seeds and growing their own vegetables. Through visits to the local library, they receive their first library card and dive into the world of books.
To explore the arts and culture, pupils perform in a nativity and sing in a church for Harvest. They also enjoy creative projects such as making puppets, designing picnics, and crafting 3D maps.
Outdoor adventures include park walks to observe seasonal changes, seaside visits, and trips to a zoo or animal park. Our pupils also learn important life skills like bike riding with our visitors, water safety with the RNLI, and the basics of French language and cooking.
With the support of older buddies and peer mentors, children transition smoothly into school life, gain confidence speaking in class assemblies, and participate in meaningful activities like litter picking in our local area.
Join us as we nurture a love for learning and adventure in every child at Victoria Road Primary School!
Year 3 & 4 Enrichment and Trips
During Year 3 and 4 pupils dive into a rich tapestry of learning experiences that broaden their horizons and ignite their imaginations. Musical talents are nurtured as pupils learn to play the glockenspiel and guitar, while artistic skills are developed through projects like sculpting clay pots, printing on fabric, and creating animated stories on the computer. Pupils also explore the world of engineering by building moving museum displays using pneumatics.
Culinary adventures include cooking simple hot meals, making soup and bread, and experiencing Hindu food and dance. These activities are complemented by important life skills such as swimming and learning about dental health through visits from a dentist.
Our exciting trips include visits to the British Museum, the National Gallery in London, and Ashford town and Museum. Pupils can step back in time at the Brock Hill Stone Age Day, Roman Beaney Museum, and Viking workshops. Outdoor adventures continue with the Kingswood Outdoor Adventure Day and Living Land Otterden visit.
Pupils also engage in meaningful community activities, such as performing carols in church, participating in Easter performances, and helping with litter picking in our local area. They build confidence by speaking in class assemblies and supporting their Reception buddies.
Year 5 & 6 Enrichment and Trips
We offer our Year 5 and 6 pupils a dynamic range of enrichment activities and trips that prepare them for the next step in their educational journey while fostering creativity, leadership, and a sense of community.
Our pupils develop practical skills and creativity through projects like programming computer games, using saws to construct wooden bridges, and painting with acrylics. They also enjoy writing jingles for adverts and creating lanterns for the community festival of light. In music, they shine as part of the class choir and during the Kent Music singing day.
Exciting trips and visits enhance learning, including explorations of the river Stour, Canterbury Cathedral, and the National Portrait Gallery in London. Pupils experience the wonders of the Astrodome and the thrill of a 4-day adventure at the PGL residential. They engage with history at the Imperial War Museum and learn about conservation at the Big Cat Sanctuary.
Our enrichment activities extend to the kitchen, where pupils meet a chef to cook a Greek meal, make Mayan hot chocolate, and plan a three-course meal. Lessons in responsibility and community involvement include litter picking, recycling projects, and caroling in the community. Leadership skills are developed through roles as school ambassadors, peer mentors, and sports captains.
Pupils also participate in the Year 5/6 production, Safety in Action road safety day, and the Year 6 leavers assembly. With opportunities like Bikeability, we ensure our pupils are well-rounded and ready for their future life experiences.
