Welcome to Term 2 2017!
We have another wonderful term of learning lined up this term: first however, a few updates:
Due to an administration error at Dover Castle, the trip to 'Operation Dynamo' has been moved from Monday 6th November to Thursday 23rd November - please make a note of amended date.
Remembrance Assembly on Friday 10th November will be led by Year 6 orating some of the World War I poems they will be writing this week. I am sure they will, as usual, be of a very high standard and look forward to posting some of them on the class page.
Below you will find the medium term plan for Term 2: in maths we will be continuing with numbers, fractions and decimals and english will continue to focus on our topic theme: World War 1 poetry, a narrative set during the Blitz and newspaper reports focusing on events that took place during the Blitz.
Welcome to Term 1 2017! Below, please find a copy of the newsletter for Term 1 and Term 2 along with a topic web for Term 1. We look forward to adding lots of news and pictures about our learning soon!
Welcome back! We hope you all had a very good winter holiday and the children are all ready for another term of busy learning!
This term the children have already produced some amazing DT work: photographs of their Anderson shelters are below. We have also made a display of some of them in the school hall - do feel free to pop in at any time and admire them!w for the
This term's newsletter is also attached below: as are the overviews of what the children are learning this term.
Welcome back to Term 2 in Year 6! This is promising to be a busy term so be sure to look out for those all-important letters coming home and check the website regularly for whole school news and events!
We had a fantastic week of collaborative learning last week which culminated in our visit to the Ashford Memorial Gardens to participate in the Remembrance Service. In addition, the children have written some very thought-provoking poetry in the style of World War I poets - there is a stunning display of their work outside the Year 6 classroom; please feel free to pop in and visit any afternoon after 3pm - it really is of very high quality and the children are justifiably proud of their hard work.
Below is the newsletter for Term 2, which includes all of the information about subjects and topics the children will be following this term. Following Mrs Carr taking up residence every Wednesday in Class 6, I shall update the timetable accordingly and post it on here in due course.
Please take some time to go through the pictures below from last Friday's Memorial service. I shall also upload some of the children's poetry so that, if you are not able to visit the display, you will be able to read it on here.
